PLACEMENT TEST REQUIREMENTS

  • Students Applying to Middle School (Grades 6-8)

    Students applying to Sacred Heart for Middle School will take a placement exam consisting of three parts: Math, Communicative Arts, and Reading. This exam will be administered by appointment.


    Contact the Admissions Office for more information or to schedule a tour and shadow day.

  • Students Applying to Elementary School (Grades K-5)
    • Placement Test is required for students applying for Grades 1 - 5. 
    • Placement Test is in Reading & Math.
    • Tests will be administered by appointment or on the student's shadow day.
    • Contact the Admissions Office to register.
  • Kindergarten Screening

    The final step in the process for Kindergarten is the completion of Kindergarten Screening. Once your child has applied for Kindergarten, the Admissions Office will contact you to schedule a screening.

  • Where do Sacred Heart students live?

    Our students live in more than 40 South Shore, South Coastal and Cape Cod communities. These areas include towns from Scituate to Yarmouth, Rockland to Bridgewater, and Lakeville to Plymouth.



  • What sports and extracurricular activities are available?

    Elementary School: Soccer, instructional for grades 1 & 2, travel team for grades 3-6. Also, various after school clubs, varying by session, and according to interest.


    Middle School: Sacred Heart offers athletics, nationally-recognized programs in the arts, such as speech, debate, creative writing, journalism, and a diverse offering of clubs and organizations.

  • Are there clubs available for students in both the elementary and middle school?

    Some clubs and organizations allow for student involvement regardless of grade level; others are structured as to be age appropriate.



  • What academic levels of instruction are available at Sacred Heart School?

    Elementary School:  Offers individualization in math and reading.


    Middle School:  As a college preparatory school, two levels of instruction are offered; College Prep (CP) and Honors (H).

  • Does Sacred Heart School administer or use the MCAS?

    Only public schools in Massachusetts are allowed to administer the MCAS. MCAS exams are not required for students attending Sacred Heart School.



  • What kind of National Testing is administered at Sacred Heart School?

    Elementary School:  Students in grades 2-6 are evaluated with nationally-recognized 'Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) multiple times during the year in the areas of Reading, Language Usage and Math.


    Middle School:  All students in Grades 7 & 8 are evaluated with the IOWA test on an annual basis.  This instrument helps to chart student progress and monitor the academic program.

  • Does Sacred Heart School require an Entrance Test?

    Yes; Sacred Heart is currently reviewing the testing process in order for potential students to safely take test. Once timeline has been finalized potential students will be notified.
