Seniors Olivia Colombo and Teaghan Gokey Receive Gold Key Art Awards

Seniors Olivia Colombo and Teaghan Gokey have received Gold Key awards for their entries in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is a non-profit organization with the mission to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world. Colombo received a top tier award for “Purple Path”, a piece that demonstrates her mastery in pastel and color; Gokey accepted his award for “Bring Us to Rest,” showcasing his outstanding technical skill in drawing as well as a gift for creativity and storytelling.

“It is so important for students to have their work exhibited and recognized by the greater art community,” said Julie Trahon, Art Instructor at Sacred Heart School. “Students need to know their unique perspective and style is valued and can move and inspire others; I am proud of all my students and especially proud this year of Olivia and Teaghan for their Gold Key achievement.”

An exhibition of student work, including that of the two Sacred Heart seniors’ winning entries, is on display at Breed Memorial Hall, located on the Tufts University Medford campus, through and including Sunday, March 25 th. Both Colombo and Gokey and their families recently attended a private awards ceremony held at Tufts University.
