"Annie" Premiers Tomorrow Night!

We are proud to announce the debut of “Annie,” to be performed at the school Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 20, at 1 p.m.
Under the direction of Theatre Coach/Drama Director Dan Sapir, the Sacred Heart cast will re-enact the Broadway musical based on the popular comic strip Little Orphan Annie. The original Broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, and led to numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical's songs "Tomorrow" and "It's the Hard Knock Life" are among its most popular musical numbers.

The cast and its director have been hard at work for more than three months preparing for this upcoming musical performance. “This is a big show,” said Coach Sapir, who noted, “The cast has gone above and beyond to bring this first-rate production to our school and extended community family.” Sapir noted that the Playbill for the program came from a Broadway flyer.

The cast includes: Annie, played by 9th grader Kayla Turner; Oliver Warbucks, played by her brother, Kory Turner, who is a senior; Grace Farrell, played by 11th grader Hannah Andrade, Miss Harrington, played by senior Zoe Emme, and Rooster played by 12th grader Jake Tibbetts.

Kayla Turner, as Annie, has starred in four other Sacred Heart shows. Last year she was the Wardrobe in Beauty and the Best. In Shrek the Musical she was Humpty Dumpty and Blind Mouse 3. Kory Turner, as Oliver Warbucks, started high school theatre in freshman year, when he played a crow and a flying monkey in the Wizard of Oz and Henry in Moby Tick. His most notable roles are Donkey in Shrek and Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Hannah Andrade, as Grace Farrell, is marking her third performance in high school theatre. She had an ensemble role in Shrek the Musical, and played Babbette in Beauty and the Beast. Zoe Emme, as Miss Hannigan, has starred in multiple Sacred Heart shows. She has been Pinocchio in Shrek, Iris in FAME, herself in Moby Tick, and other roles. This will be the third show for Jake Tibbetts, who has also been involved in the Barnstable High School Drama Club where he played Skip in Little Shop of Horrors and Rudy in The Shop around the Corner. His most recent role was Gaston in Beauty in the Beast.
