Latin 1 (514)

This course is an introduction to the rudiments of the Latin language and to the culture of early imperial Rome, using the acclaimed textbook series Ecce Romani. A series of carefully graded readings tells the story of the Cornelli, a typical Roman family of the Senatorial class, as a means of plunging students directly into the use of the language. The grammar syllabus, reinforced by drills and exercises, includes all of what has traditionally been taught in first-year Latin: the complete declension of nouns and modifiers and all the active indicative tenses of the verb. (No pre-requisite). (1 credit)
