Mrs. Chick's Classroom

February News!

The month of February is a short but busy one.  We had a great time celebrating Catholic schools week.  The preschool enjoyed activities that focused on a different theme each day.  The teddy bear day was definitely the biggest hit!

Valentine's Day will soon be approaching.  We will be celebrating with cards on Tuesday February 14th.  We will exchange valentines on that day.  Please do not send in any candy or food.  We have many children with food allergies.  Thank you for your understanding.

Themes for the month:

  • Catholic Schools week
  • Groundhog Day
  • Valentine's Day
  • President's Day
  • Continued practice with numbers 1-10 and their quantities.
  • Literacy: Letter sounds of the week: n,l,o,r
  • Listening and recalling of details in a story.
  • Cutting one dimensional shapes
  • Recognizing shapes
  • Continued writing and recognizing their names while strengthening their three finger grasp

Winter is here!!  Please remember hats, gloves, boots, snow pants.  We will be going outside twice a day, even in the snow!!  The children really enjoy playing outside on these fun snowy days and we would like them to be prepared!

We are in need of paper towels, Clorox wipes, and tissues.  All donations are greatly appreciated.

As always, we thank you for your support! Enjoy your winter break.

    Dear Families,
As a preschool teacher, one of the most important parts of my job is to build a love of reading in my students. Helping them find books they enjoy puts them on their way toward developing early reading skills, which is essential for school success.

This is why I use Scholastic Reading Club in my class. It makes it easy for you to choose books that your child will love, at just the right reading level for him or her--and at unbeatable values.

Plus when you order from Scholastic Reading Club, we get free books for our classroom library and materials that help your child learn. For every order that you place you will also get a coupon toward a future free book.
if you would like to place an order online, you can do so by using our class code: Q8CNL.  I would like all orders in on the last Monday of the month!  I will be ordering for both preschool classrooms.

    Thanks and Happy Reading!
