Mrs. Carey's Classroom Community

Dear Parents and Families:
I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into our classroom. My name is Linda Carey and I will be your child's Pre-Kindergarten teacher this year.  I also want to introduce you to the new teaching assistant for our pre-k team for our MWF classes, Mrs. Dawne Doyle. Mrs. Doyle has worked in preschool for the past few years and is excited to be working with us and all of your wonderful children.

For both of us, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of our hopes as educators is to instill a love of learning in our students, as we share our own passion for learning with them. We are truly excited to work with you and your children this year and we are looking forward to meeting all of you.

There are a few things that your child will need to remember each day they come to school. Don't forget to pack a snack labeled with their name, a lunch, their folder and a backpack large enough to hold their things. Please have them wear sneakers and dress for the weather. We will be going out twice each day for recess.

All important information and what is happening in our classroom will be posted on our page on the school website. I also will be sending home a hard copy of my monthly and weekly newslwtters all year.. I can be reached at the phone number and email address below. I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to an exciting, educational and fun-filled year!

  • May/June Newsletter

    May/June Newsletter
    Dear Families,
Where has the time gone? The past few months have truly flown by and our end of the year Celebration Day is just around the corner! We want to personally thank all of our terrific parents for all of your support in this memorable year.  All of your children have grown so much and it has been so nice to grow and learn with them.
We are currently learning about the life cycle of the butterfly and we are also enjoying another favorite author, Eric Carle. The Very Hungry Caterpillar has always been a favorite of ours and we love seeing the excitement as we explore all of these wonderful books by Eric Carle. We are currently working on Unit 7 and our last unit will be Make it Move. The concepts we will be discussing are: What are the different ways things move? What can we do to make things move? How does wind make things move? How do machines help us move things?
We also wanted to ask all of our parents, if you haven’t already, to please send in with your children a plastic refillable water bottle. As the weather begins to warm up, the children are very thirsty. Please label the water bottles so we don’t have any mix ups! Thank you!
Looking ahead to the month of June, please set aside the date of Wednesday, June 14th. This will be our end of the year Celebration Day.  Celebration Day for the Pre-K only Preschool and it will be held in ECC Cafeteria. I will be sending home more information with more specific details soon. Thursday, June 15th will be the last day of school for the Pre-K. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
