Students Participate in Social Justice Mission Trip

Senior Peer Ministers Michael Hurm and Jack Tierney recently represented Sacred Heart as they joined other St. Ann by the Sea missionaries on a week long social justice mission trip to Chicago.

The mission was led by Catherine Rein, CCD Director and Pastoral Associate at St. Ann by the Sea. Through Chicago's Darst Center programs, the group built relationships and helped the homeless of inner city Chicago, helped maintain a vegetable garden that supplies produce to the city's poor residents, spoke and offered aid to those who have been incarerated, and aided middle school children who are economically challenged.

Taking the knowledge they have gained through their actions as well as prayer and reflection groups, Michael and Jack will speak to the younger students at Sacred Heart to educate them on how they, too, can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Great job, Michael and Jack!
