Senior Strategy Series

Senior Strategy Series cumulates the four-year high school plan through individual meetings. College application workshop, college fairs and college representative visits. Senior year is the ideal time to strengthen skills and broaden both school and out-of-school involvement.
Grade 12
Summer Prior to Senior Year
• Visit Colleges
• Attend information sessions and take        tours
• Complete Brag Sheet, Activity Sheets and essay draft
•  Attend Sacred Heart sponsored college fairs in the area
•  Meet with counselor to go over college lists
•  Check application deadlines and make a plan to
meet those deadlines
•  Register for SAT or SAT Subject Test
• Ask teachers for letters of recommendation –
provide them with an activity sheet or resume’
• Take the SAT I and/ SAT II exam.  Send scores to colleges
• Finalize application essays
• Plan college visits on Saturdays, early release days or
• Attend additional college open house and information
• Register and get a pin number for the Free Application for  (FAFSA)                      Federal Student Aid 
November and December
• Submit early action/early decision applications
• Plan to send at least one application to a safety school
• Check if your college(s) require the CSS Profile
• Submit FAFSA and CSS financial aid forms
January and February
• Contact colleges and confirm your file is complete
• Update your Naviance list of applications
• Schools with Early Decision and Early Action policies may be sending notifications already
• Schools with Rolling Admission policies may be sending notifications already
• Thank you notes—to teachers and interviewer
• College acceptance letters and financial aid packages arrive. Notify Guidance Office
• Update Naviance/Family Connection with acceptances, wait-listed or denied status
• Review acceptances and financial aid  packages
• Attend accepted students day at your college of choice
• Admission decisions are complete
• May 1st – Deadline to Deposit
• Notify the Guidance Office of your final decision
• Guidance Office sends final transcript to college attending to confirm graduation
